Kelbert’s Construction Ltd. was registered by Henry Kelbert in March of 1981. Henry’s efforts mainly concentrated on residential, insurance-related claims. When work was slow with insurance claims, he found commercial projects and residential renovations to keep things going. From 1981 to 1994, Henry built up the company’s reputation as a reliable and respectable firm with many contacts. Upon retiring, he left the company to his son, David Kelbert, who had in fact been an employee of Kelbert’s Construction from the start.

David has been involved in almost every part of the restoration process, from demolition to final cleaning. When Kelbert’s Construction was a new company, David spent the first few years doing cleanup, and helping out the carpenters. He then spent the next eight years doing a lot of the painting jobs. Finally he started doing finishing carpentry and some framing as well.

Since 2001, seven years into owning the company, David has moved from hands-on work to managing and preliminary inspections, which entails sourcing problems, writing specifications, (“scope of work”) and providing estimates and reports.

As well, he has become certified in the following restoration courses: “Water Damage Restoration”, “Fire and Smoke Restoration”, “Odor Control”, “Health and Safety”, “Applied Microbial Remediation Technician”. He also attended two seminars entitled “Introduction to S520 Mold Seminar” and “Mold Cleanup and Essentials”.

“Since I started in the restoration industry, I have been fortunate to be able to work in all areas from start to finish of every kind of insurance-related claim. It has been a privilege to be able to provide assistance to customers, and see the appreciation on their faces when we show up on their doorstep to help them through their big or small disasters”.
